About the event

The NADC Certified Drain Surveyor (CDS) training course will provide CCTV operatives with the ability to fully understand the practical aspects of a CCTV investigation, the ability to accurately identify defects, apply the correct codes and to make a condition assessment of the pipe with an appropriate repair recommendation. There is a need in the drainage industry for companies that carry out domestic and light commercial CCTV Surveys to prove their competence in the area of CCTV investigation through a recognised qualification.

The NADC Certified Drain Surveyors course has been designed by the WRC in conjunction with the NADC and the National Drainage Academy. It is fully compliant with the Domestic Drain Code section of the Manual of Sewer Condition Classification 5th Edition. As approved trainers for the NADC we can now provide this course. The NADC have been working with the Environment

Agency with regard to misconnections. The various aspects concerning the detection of misconnections have now been included in this new course, making the Certified Drain Surveyors certification the first of its kind here in the UK. In addition to identifying faults within drainage systems, NADC Certified Drain Surveyors will also be trained and certified in the identification and reporting of misconnections.

Those of you who will be taking this course will need a copy of Manual of Sewer Condition Classification 5th Edition , this can be obtained from WRc Bookshop on-line On successful completion of this course operatives will be fully competent in domestic drainage CCTV surveying and will receive a recognised EU Skills approved qualification. This gives individuals and companies a recognised method of demonstrating their abilities to employers and will ensure a standard of competency within the industry. The course content includes the following:

  • Drain ownership and sewerage law
  • Domestic drain design, drain misconnections and components
  • Drain investigation best practice
  • Domestic drainage classification coding
  • Condition grading and the need for drain
  • Selection and specification of the correct drain repair technique.
